Woman, Child Killed In South Side Accident

A car carrying three people struck a viaduct on the South Side Saturday morning, killing a woman and a young boy, police said.

According to police Officer Patrice Harper, the accident occurred at around 10:43 a.m. Saturday near 7159 S. Parnell Avenue.

A man, woman and a child, age 6 to 8 years old, were riding in the car, Harper said.

The woman, 45, was pronounced dead on arrival at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The boy was taken to University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, she said.

The identities of the two victims are being withheld, pending family notification.
