Boy Killed In Train Accident

March 22, 2006

A 15-year-old Dolton boy was killed Wednesday after he tried to climb onto a moving freight train and fell underneath the wheels.

Christian Thompson became impatient and attempted to climb through the train rather than wait for it to pass the intersection, Robbins Deputy Police Chief Mike Ryan said.

As he stepped on the coupling, he lost his footing and hit his head,' Ryan said.

As Christian fell, he was caught up in the wheels of the train, Ryan said. He was found dead about 100 yards away from the site of where he fell.

Another 15-year-old boy - who did not know Christian - witnessed the incident and called police.
