Semitrailer Driver Cited After Car Accident That Killed Boy

September 7, 2005

A seven-year-old boy died and his twin sister and mother were injured after their car was hit by a semitrailer on Illinois Route 120 in Gurnee.

Police cited truck driver 48-year-old Manuel Villa of Palatine for running a red light after the accident Friday afternoon.

Police say that the driver of the car, 44-year-old Michelle Damian of Grayslake, was not seriously hurt.

Her daughter was flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The boy was driven by ambulance to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where doctors pronounced him dead.
