Man Dies After Taking Late Night Swim

A late night swim on Wednesday, August 3, turned deadly in Rogers Park when a 19-year-old man drowned at Pratt Beach.

Firefighters and police found the victim just after midnight, several minutes after he went under the waves.

A 19-year-old man somehow slipped under the waves at Pratt Beach and drowned. His friends call 911 for help.

A massive search involving a fire department helicopter, police boats, divers and dozens of firefighters and police officers on shore.

After about five minutes of searching, divers found the victim under several feet of water. Paramedics tried to revive him at the scene but the young man was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Police have not yet released the man's identity.
