Tinley Park Man Killed when SUV Overturns

August 19, 2005

A Tinley Park man was killed after his sport utility vehicle overturned on Illinois 72 about one mile west of Illinois 267 in Morgan County, according to Illinois State Police.

Richard Hutchins, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene, Morgan County Coroner Jeff Lair said. State police said Hutchins was traveling east on Illinois 72 about 12:40 p.m. in a blue 1998 Chevrolet Blazer towing a utility trailer with an all-terrain vehicle on board. Hutchins lost control of the Blazer for some reason and drove into the grass median. He turned back onto the roadway, but the vehicle returned to the median, where both his vehicle and the trailer flipped over. The Blazer landed on its top, facing west. Hutchins, who was not wearing his seat belt, was partially ejected, state police said. The South Jacksonville Fire and Rescue squad and the Morgan County's Sheriff's Office also responded to the accident.
