Ambulances took five children with minor injuries to Edward Hospital in Naperville after a 2005 Ford Escort driven by Brent A. Bollinger, 17, of 8857 S. Mayfield, DeKalb, collided with a 2004 International school bus driven by Ralph J. Schwarz, 56, of 10945 S. Ridgeway, Chicago, around 4:30 p.m., according to the Naperville police department.
Bollinger was going east on Chicago Avenue, turning to go north on Brainard Street while Schwarz was going south on Brainard Street, turning to go east on Chicago Avenue. Schwarz failed to yield to Bollinger, causing the collision of the two vehicles. Schwarz was issued a citation for failing to yield on a left turn at an intersection, authorities said. The 35 children on the bus were on a trip to North Central College.
