Injured Mascot Sues Rival Mascot For Personal Injuries

November 28, 2005

A man acting as a mascot for the Kane County Cougars and a former Cedar Rapids Kernels hitting coach will battle a personal injury lawsuit in court. Mike Forrest's attorney told a Kane County judge that attempts to settle a personal injury lawsuit between Forrest and Dwayne Hosey, the former Kernels coach, failed. Attorneys are due back in court in January.

The lawsuit, filed in Cook County in 2003, was moved to Kane County this summer. Forrest, of West Chicago, is seeking more than $50,000 for a shoulder injury caused when Hosey tackled Forrest while he was running the 'mascot dash' with a fan at the Cougars' Geneva stadium in 2001.
