Pit Bulls Escape Home, Terrorize Community

December 19, 2005

Three pit bulls were the cause of a huge scare after they escaped from their home and went on a rampage, resulting in the critical injuries of a ten-year-old boy.

The pit bulls attacked many people besides the ten-year-old before police had to subdue the dogs using force, killing them.

Although no charges have been filed yet, there is a criminal investigation underway by the McHenry County Sheriff's office.

According to members of the community, the rampage began on Saturday afternoon. Children were walking around the neighborhood stopping at houses in an effort to raise funds when they approached the home where the pitbulls lived.

When the dogs' owner opened the door, the dogs attacked the two children and then turned on their owner when he tried to stop them. The dogs bit off their owner's thumb.

The dogs then shot out the door and proceeded to attack another neighbor.

The neighbors tried using rocks and car horns in order to distract the animals until police could arrive to relieve the situation. Police had to shoot the animals in order to end the commotion.
