Crash Sends More Than A Dozen To Hospitals

January 12, 2006

At least 13 people have been hospitalized, some in critical condition, after a church van was involved in a crash with two other vehicles in Chicago.

Authorities say alcohol was likely involved in the accident Thursday night at an intersection on the University of Chicago campus.

A fire department spokesman says at least eight of the injured, including some children, are in serious or critical condition.

The crash involved a large passenger van from the Metropolitan Apostolic Church carrying children home from choir practice, an S-U-V and a station wagon.
