Rider Injured in Afternoon Collision

A Batavia man received treatment at Dreyer Medical Clinic after an accident at 5:15 p.m. on Western Avenue at Fabyan Parkway. Police said Kevin M. McKiness, 21, of 1602 Evergreen St., St. Charles, headed north on Western before turning right for eastbound Fabyan. His Chevrolet Malibu went directly into the path of a bicyclist, Peter L. Thies, 43, of 1104 Ward Road, Batavia, who was crossing the street. They collided, and Thies had his wife take him to Dreyer Medical Clinic, police said. McKiness was cited on a charge of failure to yield at an intersection and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 9, police said.
