A Batavia man received treatment at Dreyer Medical Clinic after an accident at 5:15 p.m. on Western Avenue at Fabyan Parkway. Police said Kevin M. McKiness, 21, of 1602 Evergreen St., St. Charles, headed north on Western before turning right for eastbound Fabyan. His Chevrolet Malibu went directly into the path of a bicyclist, Peter L. Thies, 43, of 1104 Ward Road, Batavia, who was crossing the street. They collided, and Thies had his wife take him to Dreyer Medical Clinic, police said. McKiness was cited on a charge of failure to yield at an intersection and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 9, police said. - Full Story
A youth supervisor with the Illinois Department of Corrections is accused of driving drunk and striking Andrew Keating as he was walking his bike near St. Louis Avenue and West 115th Street. Keating later died from his injuries, and charges against Leland were upgraded from driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license to reckless homicide. - Full Story
