Weekend Crashes Claim One, Injure Five More

November 21, 2005

A man was killed and five people were injured in separate car accidents in the suburbs Sunday.

Samrerng Sookhakith, 67, of the 6500 block of White Pine Way, Libertyville, was driving about 10 a.m. on the southbound exit of Interstate Highway 94 at Townline Road near Vernon Hills when he apparently lost control of his vehicle, an Illinois State Police officer said. The vehicle skidded across the ramp and hit a light pole, Macklin said. He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead at 11:48 a.m., the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

Also Sunday, five people were injured, three of them seriously, when two vehicles collided about 3 p.m. at Illinois Highway 59 and Butterfield Road in unincorporated DuPage County, Warrenville Fire Lt. Eric Ermer said.
