U.s. 20 Crash Involving Four Vehicles Injures Five

A four-vehicle accident on U.S. 20 near Galena injured five of the seven people involved. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Department received reports of an accident at 6 p.m., one-tenth of a mile west of Eagle Ridge Drive.

A vehicle driven by Elinor Levin, 18, of Palatine, Ill., was headed west when she lost control of her vehicle, skidding into oncoming traffic. Levin's vehicle struck three eastbound vehicles, overturning one of them, according to the sheriff's report. Levin was taken to Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque where she was treated for her injuries. Her passenger, Andrew M. Halter, 22, of Chicago, was air-lifted to Rockford (Ill.) Memorial Hospital where he was in listed in critical condition.

The drivers of the other three vehicles, Weston J. Burkholder, 22, of Lanark; Sarah Legue, 35, of Rockford; and Tamera A. Millerschone, 45, of Stockton, were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Legue had two passengers in her vehicle, Matthew B. Legue, 39 and Jessica Legue, 8, both of Rockford; neither was injured. The accident remains under investigation.
