Pedestrian Injured

An elderly Carmi woman received minor injuries after she was struck by a mini-van around 9:48 Sunday morning.

Edna M. Anderson, 80, 506 Schumaker St., was transported by ambulance to White County Medical Center after she was struck by a van driven by Pamela S. Pollard, 32, 504 Schumaker St., Carmi.

According to the accident report of Carmi Police Department, Pollard was backing from her driveway and did not see Anderson, who was walking.

Anderson told police that she saw the Pollard vehicle was backing up but was unable to get out of the way.

Pollard was cited by police for improper backing and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
