Man Killed In Car Accident

August 24, 2005

James Maberry lost his own life early Sunday, July 31, when he was hit by a drunken driver.

The accident happened at about 2 a.m. Sunday near Shirley in McLean County.

James Maberry was going south on Interstate 55. Suddenly,his truck was hit by a van.

The southbound van driven by John W. Davis of Atlanta entered a ditch, but Maberry's truck hit the median and overturned, throwing the 34-year-old from the vehicle.

John Davis was injured and taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

John remains jailed on $50,000 bond and faces two counts of aggravated DUI and additional traffic violations.

James Maberry died a little more than an hour later at St. Joseph Medical Center.
