Man Indicted In Car Accident

March 6, 2006

An East Peoria man was indicted on February 13, several drunken driving charges for a November 2005 accident that injured four others.

A Peoria County grand jury indicted Jason R. Keeler, 23, 2324 E. Washington St., Apt. D4, on 12 counts of aggravated driving under the influence, a Class 4 felony punishable by either probation or up to three years in prison.

According to Police Report, Keeler was driving east about 2:30 a.m. when he crossed the center line on Farmington Road near Kickapoo Creek Road and collided with a car heading west.

The accident sent Keeler, his passenger and three people in the other car to the hospital.

The 12 counts reflect different theories prosecutors would have to prove if the case were to go to trial, including that Keeler's blood-alcohol content was higher than 0.08 percent and that he had marijuana in his system at the time.
