Crash Ends Unrelated Police Pursuit

February 28, 2006

Two men, including a member of the Cook County sheriff's police, were injured Monday morning, February 13, in a crash on the Stevenson Expressway that tied up traffic enough to end an unrelated police pursuit without incident.

The accident, involving an unmarked sport-utility vehicle driven by the sheriff's police representative and a delivery truck, occurred about 3:50 a.m. northbound on the expressway near Central Avenue, according to Illinois State Police.

Both motorists were taken in good condition to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Trooper Tufenkjian said.

Shortly thereafter, Willowbrook police arrested a man who had eluded officers from the southwest suburb, but gave up after he encountered the traffic tie-up, according to Trooper Tufenkjian.
