Car Accident By City Hall Injures Five

An accident outside City Hall has left five people injured, including two children.

The accident occurred at the intersection of LaSalle and Washington streets where a car jumped a curb and struck the youngsters shortly after 1 p.m.

Witnesses were reported as telling police that they thought the accident was a chain reaction, after one vehicle struck another, and eventually hitting at least one parked car before hitting two pedestrians.

Investigators have still not determined exactly why the driver lost control of the car.
