Nine people, including four children, escaped with only minor injuries when a car veered into oncoming traffic on Chicago's Southwest Side and struck three other vehicles, police said today.
The accident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, February 21 in the 3200 block of West 47th Street, police officer Amina Greer said.
A westbound 2006 Ford Taurus veered into oncoming traffic and struck a Chevrolet Venture, then struck a 1991 Chevy van and 1998 Ford Expedition, Greer said.
The driver of the Taurus, Larissa Jones, 21, and three passengers in her car, ages 39, 13, and 11, were all hospitalized after the crash, Greer said.
The 35-year-old man driving the van and three of his passengers, ages 29, 10, and 9, were taken to area hospitals, Greer said.
A 47-year-old man who was driving alone in the Expedition was also hospitalized.
No one in the Venture was injured, Greer said.
Larissa Jones, of the 200 block of East 121st Place, Chicago, was ticketed for failure to stay in her lane, Greer said.
