3 Women Killed In Accidents

January 25, 2006

Three Homewood women were killed in auto accidents Friday night. Asia M. Toney, Jasmine Rivera and Nicole Barr died in two separate accidents that occurred near to each other.

The first accident occurred at 184th Street and Kedzie Avenue about 5 p.m., police said. Toney, 19, of the 3300 block of 184th Street was walking home from a grocery store when she was struck by a vehicle.

Authorities are investigating, but no citations have been issued. The driver of the vehicle that struck Toney was questioned by police and released.

About four hours later, Rivera and Barr, both 23, were killed when the pickup truck they were riding in crashed into a tree. Rivera's sister Yolanda lost control of the truck as she was driving on Riegel Road.

Yolanda Rivera was injured in the accident. She was in good condition at St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields and was to be released Saturday.
